Incredible Years

The Incredible Years® evidence based parenting program focuses on strengthening parenting competencies and fostering parent involvement in children’s school experiences, to promote children’s academic, social and emotional skills and reduce conduct problems. Partners offers this program for parents of school aged children (ages 6-12 years).

Parent groups are delivered in 12-20 weekly group sessions of 2 hours.

Group sessions focus on: strengthening parent-child interactions, nurturing relationships, reducing harsh discipline, and fostering parents’ ability to promote children’s social, emotional, and language development.

School Age Parent groups encourage parents as they learn to promote school readiness skills.

Parents are encouraged to partner with teachers and be involved in children’s school experiences to promote children’s academic and social skills, emotional self-regulation, and to reduce conduct problems.

Parents learn how to:

Monitor children after school
Set rules regarding TV, computer, and drug use
Support children’s homework
Partner with teachers so that they can promote children’s academic, social, and emotional skills.

In the parenting groups, trained Incredible Years® facilitators use video clips of real-life situational vignettes to support the training and stimulate parenting group discussions, problem solving, and practice exercises.
